Education:: I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley (U.C. Berkeley) in 2004, and earned my B.A., in English with an emphasis on Twentieth Century Literature (from Modern to Contemporary) Anglophone and Multicultural Studies. In 2005, I was accepted into a Masters and Ph.D., program in the Department of Anthropology and The Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas, Austin (UT). I received my M.A., in 2007, and I am currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Anthropology and The Center for Mexican American Studies at UT, Austin. Currently, I am doing research in California, and I am writing my dissertation called, “Wixárika (Huichol) Art, and Artists: Crossing Visible and Invisible Borders from the 1950’s to 2010."

I love to read and write, and spend time with my family. I love art, music the outdoors, and traveling. I have studied the indigenous language called Nahuatl at the University of Zacatecas, and lived in Zacatecas, Mexico for 6 months doing research. I have traveled all over Mexico and the U.S., and I am always excited to learn about cultures and traditions. I enjoy teaching, learning,and mentoring, and sharing my experiences and knowledge with others.
