I enjoy teaching because I love helping young people develop confidence in themselves and their intellectual abilities. I have taught in elementary schools and universities, both in the United States and abroad. I hold a bachelor's in English Literature from UC Berkeley and a Master's degree in Comparative Literature from Indiana University. As an instructor at IU, I enjoyed teaching undergraduate courses in comparative literature, popular culture, and expository writing. Several years ago an event in my personal life inspired me to switch career paths and become a doctor. I moved from Indiana to the Bay Area and attended Mills College, where I obtained a pre-med post-bacc (roughly the equivalent of a bachelor's of science). I am a firm believer that anyone can understand scientific concepts. Although there are some equations that should be memorized, the most important thing is for students to use their imagination. My dream is to help students visualize the way that electricity, molecules, or levers work so that they build confidence in their scientific intuition and excel in their classes. In my free time I enjoy swimming, taking yoga classes, traveling, and cooking.
