Tutorpedia’s tutors all possess two crucial qualities:
- A proven ability to teach, and teach well. Tutorpedia tutors, through years of experience tutoring or teaching in the classroom, have developed a mastery of explaining complex concepts in easy-to-understand terms to students at all learning levels - including students with learning disabilities.
- Strong academic credentials. Tutorpedia tutors are graduates of the nation's leading academic institutions, including Harvard, Brown, Princeton, Stanford, and UC Berkeley.
Tutorpedia’s tutors are an inspiring, accomplished, and exceptional group of people. Our cohort hails from all over the country, and our tutors live all over the Bay Area. All of our tutors have experience teaching, tutoring, or working with youth and have themselves excelled in high school and college, earning high GPA's and scoring in the top percentiles on their SATs and ACTs. Our tutors have earned Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, professional degrees, and Ph.Ds from the top schools in the country, including Stanford, Harvard, Brown, UC Berkeley, Princeton, UCLA, Cornell, The University of Chicago, Amherst, and NYU. But regardless of where they went to school and what their areas of expertise are, all of our tutors care deeply about education and believe strongly in the efficacy of individual tutoring to help students succeed.
At last count, 27 of our tutors are or have been full time classroom teachers, 22 of our tutors have earned teaching credentials (four of whom hold Special Ed credentials), and five tutors on staff are currently working towards their Masters in Education and teaching credentials. Our ranks include graduates from Stanford's Teacher Education Program (STEP), Teach For America, and Fulbright scholars who have taught internationally.
Taken in sum, Tutorpedia’s tutors have well over 150 years of collective teaching and tutoring experience. We can provide expert one-on-one tutoring in all subject areas, to all ages and abilities, at all levels. While the bulk of our students are either in middle school or high school, our tutors have worked with kindergardeners as well as college students. Our tutors’ exuberance about learning and deep experience both in pedagogy and content both motivates and encourages their students. Our tutors make it easier for students to take ownership of their own education, realize the intrinsic value of what they are learning, and accomplish their academic goals.
